DZL Annual Meeting 2023 took place in Fürstenfeldbruck (Munich). In the DZL Academy Reception, our clinician-scientist Christina Malainou was elected DZL Academy Fellow Coordinator, joining Prof. Susanne Herold and Prof. Tobias Welte in coordinating the disease area “Pneumonia and Acute Lung Injury”. The teaser session counted on our PhD student Margarida Barroso (research group of Prof. Herold) to present her poster about the human iPSC-derived lung organoids and their applicability. PhD student Georgios Kiliaris (research group of Prof. El Agha) also presented his poster about the mobilization of the mesenchymal niche in influenza virus induced lung injury. PhD student Theresa Schäfer (research group of Prof. Herold) also invited the audience to visit her poster on the impact of GM‐CSF on lung epithelial cell injury and repair in severe influenza virus pneumonia. On the last day of the annual retreat, Prof. El Agha presented breaking news in regeneration & organ replacement.
